7 Days Masai mara game reserve, Baobab Beach Resort hotel  family safari from Nairobi

Day 1: Nairobi - Mara
Pick up from your hotel in the morning at 7.30 am and head west for Maasai Mara Game Reserve for lunch at the camp followed by afternoon game drive in the game reserve which is Kenya's finest wildlife sanctuary. Including migrants, well over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. Although July, August and September are the months when the Mara plains are filled with migrating wildebeest and zebra, there is also resident wildlife year round. The famous Maasai tribesmen live within the dispersal area of the game reserve. Dinner and overnight at the Camp.

Masai Mara National Reserve: Whether it’s the movie The Lion King, the game Hungry Hippos or pedestrian-friendly Zebra crossings, we all grow up with dreams of Africa’s larger-than-life wildlife. So where better to tick off the Big Five than the Masai Mara? This national park is the granddaddy of all the safari destinations and can claim the annual wildebeest migration as one of its top attractions. After its prides of lions, naturally. On the floor of the Great Rift Valley you’ll see an alphabet of animals including elephants, gazelles, lions, cheetahs and, of course, zebras. Then there are the striking grassy plains and sunsets. They’re perfect photography material. For fact buffs, the park covers an area of 1,500km˛ and it’s tucked away in the south west corner of Kenya. Optional Balloon Safari: It’s one thing to watch lazing lions from the comfort of a car rumbling along bush tracks. It’s another thing entirely to see the ‘Circle of Life’ from a hot air balloon floating high above the Masai Mara. From the sky, you’ll see for miles and take in Africa’s huge, open landscape. Plus, early risers can watch as the sun’s ray’s stretch out across the land. You’ll be surprised just how quiet it is from on high – but you can still hear elephants trumpet and baboons screech. And this time of day is prime time for action as Africa’s beasts big and small kick off their day with breakfast. Just so you know, the Balloon Safari is an optional extra on Day 4. Talk to your Holiday Advisor about upgrading to include this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity on your trip.
