Many species are rarely found elsewhere in Kenya. The narrow-striped, large-eared Grevy zebra, graceful

Long-necked gerenuk, Beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, and the blue-shanked Somali ostrich.

Samburu AccomodationWhere better to spend a few days in Kenya's northern game sanctuaries than in the riverine forest cool of Samburu Lodge, the area's first game lodge and still a firm favorite for visitors.

Day 2: Full Day at Samburu

Full day spent in Samburu with early morning and afternoon game drives in Samburu Game Reserve, which covers 40 square miles (104 square kilometers). Ololokwe Table Mountain forms a dramatic backdrop to our game viewing. Oryx at samburu. Samburu is also home to the third of Kenya's giraffe species - the rare Reticulated Giraffe (only found in the Northern parks). This is also where you see the blue-legged Somali Ostrich, the long-necked Gerenuk gazelle and the straight-horned Beisa Oryx antelope. Dinner and overnight at the Samburu lodge

Day 4 Samburu Game Reserve - Aberdares

After heading south, through the market town of Nyeri where Lord Baden Powel, founder of the Boy Scouts, is buried, arrives at one of the famous Tree Hotels, after lunch. The Aberdare National Park, with an area of 767 Km2 covers the higher areas of the Aberdare Mountain Ranges of Central Kenya, from altitude of 1829M to 4001M above sea level. The topography is quite diverse with deep ravines that cut through the forested eastern and western slopes. Animals easily observed in the park include; the Black Rhino, leopard, baboon, black and white Colobus monkey and sykes monkey. Rarer sightings include those of lions, the golden cat and the bongo- an elusive forest antelope that lives in the bamboo forest. Animals like the eland and spotted and melanistic serval cats can be found higher up in the moorlands.

Visitors can also indulge in picnics, trout fishing in the rivers and camping in the moorlands. Bird viewing is rewarding, with over 250 species of birds in the park, including the Jackson's Francolin, sparry hawk, goshawks, eagles, sunbirds and plovers.

Day 5 Aberdares -Lake Nakuru.

This morning we descend into the Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park. After lunch enjoy a game drive in the park to see the masses of flamingos that seasonally live on the lake. Besides its many birds, this park is filled with other game as well as being a sanctuary for the black rhino. Continue on to Lake Naivasha Overnight Accommodations Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge Included Meals Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Lake Nakuru's claim to fame is anchored on its flamingo's and the over 400 species of birds found here. The lake itself is a soda lake on the floor of the rift valley. The sight of the at times millions of flamingos is quite spectacular. From a distance the lake appears ringed in pink. The Lake has also earned a reputation as an important haven for endangered species- particularly the Rothschild Giraffe and the black and white rhino. Lions, waterbuck, buffalo and baboons are all residents here.

Day 6: Lake Naivasha - Masai Mara

After breakfast depart Naivasha in the morning and drive down the escarpment via the floor of the Great Rift Valley, to arrive at Maasai Mara Game Reserve in time for lunch, after lunch proceed for afternoon game drive. This will take you until 1830hrs. Dinner and overnight at Sopa lodge

You will easily see lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelopes and elephant. It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (Tanzania) in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of the savanna- lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena and vultures

Day 7: Masai Mara full day

The whole day explore the parks amazingly high concentration of game. This game reserve is Kenya's finest wildlife sanctuary. Including migrants, well over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. Mara plains are filled with migrating wildebeest and zebra; there is also resident wildlife year round. The Mara's gentle fertile climate bounded by The Rift, offers perhaps the richest stocked reserve set within some 1672 sq kms - an unlimited spectacle of wildlife. Located 268 kms west of Nairobi, the emphasis here is on game. Herds of immense Elephants, browse among Lion, Buffalo, Thompson's Gazelle, Zebra and Topi. You may occasionally sight a Rhino or Leopard. In the Mara River Hippos play and Crocs bask on the banks. The annual migration of a million Wildebeest follows the rains north. After exploring the park return to the camp for dinner and overnight Sopa lodge.

Note:

This is the same day you can do the balloon safari in the morning as from 06:00am until 08:00am, and then after landing you will pick after having your bush breakfast and proceed for the whole day game drive as the program above. After exploring the park return to the camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 8 Maasai Mara - Spike's Bay

cross the border into Tanzania, and meet our Tanzanian driver. Enjoy a picnic lunch en route to the Lodge situated on the shores of Lake Victoria, and where you can choose from several optional activities, time permitting. NOTE: Today’s drive is very long and can take upward of 8+ hours depending on road conditions, game sightings en-route as well as the border crossing time from Kenya into Tanzania. Overnight Accommodations Spike Bay Lodge Included Meals Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Serengeti is easily Tanzania's most famous national park, and it's also the largest, at 14,763 square kilometres of protected area that borders Kenya's Masai Mara Game Park It is the Migration for which Serengeti is perhaps most famous. Over a million wildebeest and about 200,000 zebras flow south from the northern hills to the southern plains for the short rains every October and November, and then swirl west and north after the long rains in April, May and June. So strong is the ancient instinct to move that no drought, gorge or crocodile infested river can hold them back. The Wildebeest travel through a variety of parks, reserves and protected areas and through a variety of habitat. Join us to explore the different forms of vegetation and landscapes of the Serengeti ecosystem and meet some of their most fascinating inhabitants.

Day 9 - 10 Spike's Bay - Serengeti National Park

Day 11 Serengeti National Park - Ngorongoro Crater

Head for the Ngorongoro Crater, stopping to visit the Oldupai Gorge, site of archaeological findings, where traces of pre-historic man dating back to 3.5 million years were discovered, and have a picnic en route. After arriving at the lodge the balance of the day is at leisure.

Overnight Accommodations Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge: Included Meals Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

The oval shaped Ngorongoro Crater is 300 sq km/116 sq miles in area and 610m/2001ft deep crater and is a repository of Africa's finest wildlife. All of the "Big Five" are present living a privileged existence on the crater floor, so placid, you could almost move quietly amongst them

Day 12 Ngorongoro Crater

Spend the morning visiting the crater floor. Our 4x4 vehicle takes us down the steep walls of the Caldera into the primeval paradise of woodland, lake, river, swamp and plain that shelter approximately 20,000 animals. Spend the rest of the day at leisure with optional excursions available. Overnight Accommodations Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge Included Meals Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

The Ngorongoro Crater is often called 'Africa's Eden' and the '8th Natural Wonder of the World,' a visit to the crater is a main draw card for tourists coming to Tanzania and a definite world-class attraction. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA) is home of Ngorongoro Crater. It was formed some 2.5 million years ago from a volcanic mountain sinking due to inactivity, and was initially thought to be higher than Tanzania's famous Kilimanjaro. The crater has evolved into a unique and integral part of Tanzania's eco-system. The crater is actually a caldera, measures 22.5 km's across and the rim walls stand 600m high. Views from within and from the rim are breathtaking (as can be seen from the picture). The crater houses 30,000 animals and a large variety of birds, which rarely move from the area due to the availability of water through wet and dry seasons

Day 13 Ngorongoro Crater-Tarangire National Park

Arrive at Tarangire National Park in time for lunch. Later our drive in this park, known for its giant Baobab trees, will follow the Tarangire River looking for the huge herds of Wildebeest, Zebra, Elephants, Eland and Oryx, as well as enjoying the hundreds of birds that inhabit the area. Overnight Accommodations Tarangire Sopa Lodge. Included Meals Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Herds of up to 300 elephants scratch the dry river bed for underground streams, while migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland crowd the shrinking lagoons. It's the greatest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem - a smorgasbord for predators – and the one place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope such as the stately fringe-eared oryx and peculiar long-necked gerenuk are regularly observed

Day 14 Tarangire National Park - Arusha
