A semi luxury Tented Camp in the National Game Reserve and parks of Kenya "The Place

Camp tents are built between natural trees and well-spaced giving you the comfort and privacy as you enjoy peace and tranquility.

6 DAYS MAASAI MARA, LAKE NAKURU, LAKE BARINGO, LAKE BOGORIA, WILDLIFE BUDGET CAMPING SAFARI.

The 6 days budget camping safari takes you to the world famous Bird Sanctuaries of the Great Rift Valley Lakes Baringo, Bogoria and Nakuru, then South over the Mau Escarpment to Kenya’s greatest concentration of game - Masai Mara. Look out for Hippo in Baringo, flamingos and rhino's in Nakuru and chances of seeing the Big 5 in Masai Mara (as well as the wildebeest migration in July/ August).

Day 1: Nairobi to Lake Baringo

Depart Nairobi in the early morning stopping enroute to view the spectacular Great Rift Valley. We stop for lunch along the way then set up camp in Lake Baringo in the late afternoon. As long as the wind conditions are favorable, we enjoy an evening boat ride in search of hippo, crocodile, and birds. A bird watcher’s haven but beware, this is malaria land so its best to come prepared with plenty of mosquito repellant.

The Lake Bogoria National Reserve covers 107 km sq and is easily reached from either Nakuru or Lake Baringo. The reserve is most famous for its flamingo population, its strange and quite stunning scenery and the presence of the rare Greater Kudu. It is better to visit the Lake either in the early morning or late evening, as it is fiercely hot at midday and so staying in the area is probably the best option.

The Lake Bogoria Reserve is run by Baringo and Koibatek County Councils in tandem with the KWS. Payment is made to enter the reserve at the main gate at Loboi which is accessed by turning left a few kms from Marigat (heading south.) Lake Bogoria can also be accessed by an overland route starting from Mogotio near Equator. The route takes you through the Mogotio sisal plantations and is interesting, but fairly rough. Once there, there is an entry fee per person, and you will have to pay a vehicle fee as well. If you wish to camp within the Reserve, which is in our view the best way to appreciate the area, you pay a camping charge at the gate

Day 2: Lake Bogoria & Lake Nakuru

Break camp after an early breakfast and drive 30km south to the spectacular Lake Bogoria. Lunch en route before proceeding towards the Lake Nakuru national park. At 180sq km an afternoon game drive will suffice to explore this small but interesting park with habitats which include grass, bush, euphorbia, acacia forests and rocky cliffs home to baboons and rock hyraxes. Dinner and overnight at budget hotel.

Day 3: Lake Nakuru - Masai Mara

Break up camp after breakfast then depart towards Mai Mahiu and Narok town with lunch en route before arriving at Masai Mara game reserve. View game en route towards our Talek campsite situated at the edge of the park. Dinner and overnight at camp.Hot showers and flash toilets are available in the camp and meals are served in the dinning area.

Maasai Mara (Masai Mara) is situated in south-west Kenya and is one of Africa’s Greatest Wildlife Reserves. Together with the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania it forms Africa’s most diverse, incredible and most spectacular eco-systems and possibly the world’s top safari big game viewing eco-system. NOTE: The Wildebeest migration has now left the Maasai Mara and they are in the Serengeti National Park heading south to where they will give birth in February – March next year.

They will be back in Kenya around July and leave again around late October, so look into safaris now for next year. Plan early. Made famous by the abundance of the big cats, Lion, Leopard, Cheetah and the Great Wildebeest Migration and the Maasai people, well known for their distinctive custom and dress. There is a wide selection of places to stay in and around the Maasai Mara and the conservancies surrounding it . The conservancies surrounding the Maasai Mara have restricted number of vehicles allowing a more private game viewing of wildlife. Safaris including the Maasai Mara are without a doubt some of the best you ever get. To get the best out of your safari time, try a book at seven day safari at least and cover two or more other destinations. The Maasai Mara Ecosystem holds one of the highest lion densities in world and this is where over TWO MILLION Wildebeest, Zebra and Thomsons Gazelle migrate annually.Maasai Mara National Reserve stretches 1,510 sq km (580 sq miles) and raises 1,500-2,170 meters above sea level. It hosts over 95 species of mammals and 570 recorded species of birds. It's about 270 km from the capital Nairobi City and takes about 5-6 hours by road or 40-45 minutes by flight. The road is great for the most part. there is a section from Narok town to Sekenani Gate that is dirt road but fairly good. The other road through Lemek and Aitong town is not good day all, very bumpy. With the wildebeest migration in JULY – OCTOBER, this is the best time to see this incredible movement of animals. Although it is not guaranteed that the wildebeest get to Maasai Mara, it has yet to let us down. Also, December

Day 4 & 5: Mara

Early morning and late afternoon game drives returning to the campsite for lunch. Option to visit Masai village or local school.

Alternatively spend the entire day on a game drive (with packed lunches) returning to the campsite in the early evening hours. (Recommended during July/ August during the annual wildebeest migration).

The Mara Reserve covers 1510km˛ of incredible wide-open landscapes and fertile riverine woodlands, following the looping meanders of the Mara and Talek rivers in southwest Kenya. One glimpse is enough to explain its appeal; it is typical open savannah, with a mass of amazing wildlife. Wherever you go in the vast Masai Mara Park you will see a frequent amount of wildlife such as Masai giraffe, baboons, warthogs, bat eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyena, topis, impala, hartebeests, wildebeest. Elephants, buffalos, zebras and hippos are also found in great numbers. It is also common to see lions either basking after a heavy meal, or surveying the plains for their next meal. Cheetahs and leopards are harder to spot, but reasonably common. The ultimate action here is without a doubt the annual wildebeest exodus, the Great Migration, in July and August when millions of these grazers move north from the Serengeti in search of lusher grass before turning south again in October. Balloon trips are an entirely outstanding way of seeing the savannah plains teeming with wildlife
